Isa 40:25 -31 To whom then will you compare Me, or am I equaled? says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold, who has created these [stars], who brings out their host by number? He calls them all by names by the greatness of His might, for He is strong in power; not one is lacking.
Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not grow weak nor weary? There is no searching of His understanding.
He gives power to the weary; and to him with no vigor; He increases strength.
Even the young shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall;
but those who wait on Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
When I read this today, it struck me that it is mentioned in this passage that “not one star is missing’ . That is an amazing piece of information that I think even has relevance in science today: namely it has been considered that the creation of the whole universe depended on a very tight balance of matter and anti matter.
What we are often doing in science is looking for causes to explain what we see happening. Sometimes we do not see a cause and then we say: “this is a co-incidence’. In this case there are two possibilities: 1) we do not know the cause, 2) there is no cause. For example, let us look at the living cell. Where did it come from? Well, we don’t know, really. We as Christians believe that God has created it. The evolutionist believes that it came about from a co-incidence as for them God is not in the equation. So, we are back to 1) + 2). Now, you have to try and imagine this: we have the dead atoms lined up somewhere in a crystal ball, we wait for millions of years for the right strike (lightning? right type of radiation?, right temperature?, right pressure? right mix of chemistry? right mix of biology? etc) and, voila, the first living thing is there. The problem is: Nobody has been able to make a living cell from the dead atoms that they consist of. You see why I seem to have too little faith to be an evolutionist? The whole theory of evolution is simply unnatural. Earth is a unique oasis in a chaotic and a destructive universe. Even going to Mars is a big illusion, unless you first create an atmosphere to protect you against the sun. When I look at earth I see God’s greatness and power as well as his love and care made visible……
So, to sum it up:
- Matter does not come into existence from ‘itself’…
- Life does not come into existence from ‘itself’….
- Natural selection, mutations by co-incidence and development over longer terms, do not explain the enormous complexity of living nature.
- There is no single reasonable explanation for the development of one living cell, never mind from one cell to one man, e.g. just one human brain has more connections than all computers and routers on earth.
- Matters that affect our conscience confirm that we are spiritual beings, knowing what is right and wrong.
You cannot explain the existence of the world from the point of view that it all must have been a co-incidence. Evolution theory has muddled and throttled the knowledge of God as Creator of all things. There is a God! And He has a plan and a purpose with your life:
“And He also spoke a parable to them to teach it is always right to pray, and not to faint, saying, A certain judge was in a certain city, not fearing God, nor respecting man. And a widow was in that city. And she came to Him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary. And he would not do so for a time. But afterward he said within himself, Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, that she not wear me down in the end. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says. And shall not God avenge His own elect who cry day and night to Him, though He has been long-suffering over them?
I say to you that He will avenge them speedily. Yet when the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith on the earth? “
