From the desk of Henry: Easter 2024

When I think of Easter, I picture Jesus having to go down the Via Dolorosa, a public spectacle of humiliation, pain, and suffering. There was no other way (Luke 22:42). He had to make sure that our faith would be perfected so we would be able to fearlessly stand up against evil, like He did. It also means that God knows all our suffering, how and whichever way we encounter it. He went through it Himself. Crucifixion is one of cruelest punishments, inflicting an unbelievable amount of pain.

Says Max Lucado (in his book: ‘Fearless’):

‘Certain chapters in our lives seem so unnecessary. Suffering from disease or loneliness. Genocide, the horrible and indescribable atrocities committed during the holocaust and that what we see happening even during present day wars. Suffering persecution. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, storms, etc. The list of suffering is endless. If we assume this world exists just for pre-grave happiness, these atrocities disqualify it from doing so. But what if this earth is the womb? Might these challenges, severe as they may be, serve to prepare us, equip us for the world to come? As Paul wrote: These troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing (2 Cor. 4:17).’

I am reminded again of the story of Jesus healing the man who had been blind from birth. At the end, Jesus points to us and says: “You are the light of the world. A City on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matt.5:14). Jesus is saying: Wherever and whenever we find darkness we must resist it, fight it, and in so doing become more like Him. This is the challenge that He extends to us: You, together with Me, let us change this world and make it a better place. We are not called to solve riddles that cannot be solved or to find explanations for the unexplainable. Our faith only becomes real when we enter the darkness with the Spirit of Jesus in us and work together with Him doing the works of His Father: “Let there be light!” in an often dark and chaotic world.

Our fight against ignorance, poverty, blindness, sickness, diseases, etc. all originate from this point in our lives, where we realize that He is challenging us to become like Him, with His Spirit in us, actively involved in the bringing of light where it is dark. People who follow in the footsteps of Jesus through service to Him, e.g. caring for the widows and orphans as He instructed, are the light in this chaotic and dark world. Let us continue to build on the example of our Lord Jesus in caring for our fellowman and child.

Blessings to all of you who made it possible for us to reach the R200000 mark for our project to supply the orphanage in Murchison, KZN with alternative power. Click here if you had not seen our newsletter:

R200000!!!! | Heart for Children

We have been informed that they are busy getting quotes for gas stoves- and installation! It seems that the school in the village already has solar panels, but the inverter needs to be replaced. Once we know how much they need for all of this, we will know what is left for solar installation for the homes. Instead of putting solar on each of the children’s homes, it might be better to erect a field full of panels that can serve the whole village and that can be expanded later. We will keep you informed!

After Easter we will prepare your tax certificates. Please make sure that we have the correct full names of the person wanting to claim a tax benefit, his/her ID – and address as it is known by SARS. If you do not want or need a certificate, please let us know. We will want to make note of this as it prevents us doing extra work.

We also want to remind our donors that that we are willing to publish the names of their businesses that they want to promote on the sponsor page of the Heart for Children website. You just ask! See:

SPONSORS | Heart for Children

Many thanks for your faithful contributions to the children. Please remember that monthly donations are preferred so that we can plan our assistance to the homes that we promised to assist.

If you are traveling this weekend: please do not take any risks and drive carefully!

We wish you a very blessed Pass-over and a Happy Easter!!

27!!!

27!!!

About 12 years ago, I became interested in looking at the whole global warming thing. It also just became a bit of a hobby for me. I found it interesting to look at the temperature (changes) at various places in the world. Since that time, I have a certain date in the year where I look at my own thermometer, under the lapa. It is a special day of the year because it is a holiday here (in South-Africa), namely Human Rights Day, so I would never forget to look. It is also the official beginning of autumn here (in South-Africa), as the sun stands 100% straight above the equator. Amazingly, every year I have looked, since then, the temperature on this day has consistently always been exactly 27C give or take half a degree, here in Pretoria. Unbelievable, right? I thought this year it would also be different, as we did have a particular warm summer. But I promise you, this year on 21-03-2024, the maximum temperature under the lapa again reached the 27 mark!

What can I say? One could say that there really has been no change in temperature here for us in Pretoria for the past 12 years. But what change would you expect to see over a period of 12 years?  When I put my own data together I found that the warming of the earth was rather unequal. In South-Africa, I hardly found any warming, when I looked at it from 1977.  My report on that is here:

SUBMISSION by Henry Pool.docx (dropbox.com)

and my data for ten weather stations in South-Africa is summarized here:

summary of climate change south africa.xlsx (dropbox.com)

As you can see from the data, the warming I measured in Pretoria was only 0.01C per decade from 1974 to 2018. However, for example, in Norway the picture was quite different. That made me wonder. People did not believe me when I told them. But now, since 1979, we also have satellites ‘measuring’ the temperature at the various latitudes. They also show the unequal warming of earth if you look at the change in degrees C/per decade/per latitude:

So, in the SH Extratropics, the average warming amounts to only 0,1C per decade, on average, 360 degrees (around the whole earth).

Now obviously, nobody can measure such a small change of 0,12C over 12 years in their own backyard…… so 27C is what it is and what it will be for many years to come….

How to explain these results in the graph? Truth is that the proposed culprit for the global warming, carbon dioxide, which is released by burning fossil fuels, is an ideal gas that distributes itself evenly in all directions. If carbon dioxide is the guilty party, one would expect to see that the warming per decade should be more or less the same everywhere you measure on earth. Then I noted other graphs showing that the warming rather seems to be coming from the oceans, not from the atmosphere! I explain the consequences here:

My final report on everything related to this subject is here:

The Cold Truth about the Climate

This film exposes the climate alarm as an invented scare without any basis in science. It shows that mainstream studies and official data do not support the claim that we are witnessing an increase in extreme weather events – hurricanes, droughts, heatwaves, wildfires and all the rest. It emphatically counters the claim that current temperatures and levels of atmospheric CO2 are unusually and worryingly high. On the contrary, it is very clearly the case, as can be seen in all mainstream studies, that, compared to the last half billion years of earth’s history, both current temperatures and CO2 levels are extremely and unusually low. It also shows that there is no evidence that changing levels of CO2 (it has changed many times) has ever ‘driven’ climate change in the past.

Who really profits from the war in Oekraine?

Ja. Ja. War is for profit. Blessed are the peacemakers, is what Jesus said. Why did we forget about that?  Few people realize what the war in the Ukraine really means for big business. It only takes a few minutes to understand….

Foot Note (by Henry Pool):

The video is very short and does not make it very clear that there had been earlier meetings between NATO and Russia, where things might have turned out differently if there had been more concessions from the Western side when the iron curtain fell. I also believe that the people of Crimea have clearly indicated in an election that they do want to be part of Russia. But there are some things about Putin in the past that strike me. I don’t think there was any proposal for warfare by him and by Russia up until 3 years ago (I used to watch a lot of RT at the time before the war).

In the meantime, Putin has proven during his reign that he is a ruthless villain who kills all his opponents and gets away with it. As befits a villain, his personal wealth has also increased enormously in the last few years, and I don’t think that that can come from his salary alone.

Unfortunately, the arms industry is still the largest industry in the world. There was a soapy on television a lot of years ago that was called “Rich man, poor man”. You may remember it. At one point, all those bosses of the industry sat around a table to discuss where they could start another war. Well, I think you can guess what I’m thinking right now. War is for profit…. from both sides.

I blame the politicians of the western world, and Rutte in particular, for not making any attempt to act as intermediaries to try to make peace. A trio of leaders from Africa have tried to do something but have not received any help from the West. That was a pity. Just like Vietnam, Ukraine has now become the play ball between the west and the east and I can only cry for the people who have to live in that ball.

A word of warning: Who will eventually pay for that war? Look carefully what happened to the inflation rate in the USA before, during and after the war in Vietnam. Inflation is caused by those responsible for printing money (government) and it is simply an extra tax to pay for the debt that your government is making:

Don’t call me a climate-change denier!

Take 5 minutes of your time to learn something about climate change that the media won’t tell you (anymore).  Watch this video by Patrick Moore, one of the original founders of the Green Peace movement, now retired. Don’t call him a climate change denier…..
