Appeal 2025

Appeal 2025

In a previous newsletter from ‘Heart for Children’ we informed you that this year we want to help ‘Guardians of Hope’ in East London who are taking care of orphaned and/or abandoned babies and small children. We received the following letter of appeal from Philip Nicholson who is a member of the board of both ‘Heart for Children’ and ‘Guardians of Hope’.

Appeal for Sponsorship of Canvas Coverings

‘Guardians of Hope’ is a dedicated place of safety in East London, providing care for vulnerable children who have been abandoned or surrendered at birth for adoption. Our mission is to meet their physical, spiritual, medical, and psychological needs comprehensively. We strive to spread hope within our community, ensuring that vulnerable children receive the care they deserve and that our community is aware of our presence and support. Our commitment extends to providing a loving home environment for 30 vulnerable children, and we actively work towards family reunification whenever possible. In cases where reunification is not feasible, we support adoption processes, ensuring that the children find a nurturing and permanent loving family.

The facility comprises a large house, a living area for the director and her family (the Brenkmans), small classrooms for pre-school education, and outdoor play facilities. A large courtyard roof was recently installed to provide shelter for the children. It doubles as an entertainment venue for functions as well as birthday party functions for young families, which provides a valuable income stream for the home. Two sides of the covered area are 12m and 14m respectively, which are open to the elements. During inclement weather, the entertainment area becomes virtually unusable, and functions must be cancelled at short notice, at great inconvenience to the parties involved.

The attached quote from an established and reputable business, Border Canvas, is the lowest negotiated with various competitors, and represents a very reasonable investment to install canvased roll-up covers on both sides, as it will be done at cost by the supplier. The target amount to be raised is R59 000. Once the entertainment area is fully covered, the outdoor play facility will also be usable during periods of rain and functions can be planned without the risk of cancellations.

Thank you in advance for partnering with us in this worthy cause.

Yours in Christ,

Philip Nicholson

Take 5 minutes of your time and have a good laugh about all the scare stories the media have been telling you about it getting too warm because of  climate change….

What drives El Ninos?

What drives El Ninos?

This article was written by James E. Kamis on September 15, 2023, with some editing by Henry Pool on 25/01/2025 in []. There is an enormous amount of data that proves El Ninos and La Ninas significantly alter the Pacific Ocean’s temperature, influence Earth’s atmospheric temperature, reverse equatorial trade winds, and change our climate. It may come as a surprise that armed with all this information scientists still don’t know what generates El Ninos and La Ninas. This article will show [compelling evidence] that massive amounts of heated- and cooled fluids, chemicals, and various gases emitted from geologic and volcanic features located at a non-moving/fixed location in a far western part of the Pacific Ocean, i.e., the “Source Point”, generate and maintain both El Ninos and La Ninas.
