Net zero 2050 is the goal to achieve a balance with the emission of greenhouse gasses, mostly coming from burning fossil fuels, and their removal from the atmosphere. It is hoped that this goal is achieved by the year 2050. In this presentation by Theo Wolters from the Netherlands a serious attempt is made to see what this really implies for a country such as the Netherlands. This post is relevant for engineers and energy experts who are in the field of supplying the energy that we need every day. Theo has kindly given permission for his presentation to be used on other websites, provided that the source is mentioned.

Abstract:
Theo Wolters: Towards a new energy system based on wind, solar and nuclear energy
(Chairman of The Environment, Science & Policy Foundation)
With the transition from fossil to CO2 free energy sources, comes a major shift in electricity price from fuel costs to investment costs, or in general, from operational expenses (OPEX) to capital expenses (CAPEX).
Far more important for the electricity price however is the difference in system costs between on-demand electricity production, and sun and wind driven production.
The present electricity system relies on a merit order-based market, which has worked great for decades, but cannot cope with a substantial share of subsidized CAPEX driven production, in combination with a huge reduction of on-demand production. Without changing the system, we will end up with frequent and long black-outs, and a very high electricity price.
In my presentation I will compare solar and wind vs nuclear energy in an electricity system with a strongly reduced fossil fuel share on: production cost, backup cost, grid cost and net-stability cost (frequency-, inertia-, and reserve capacity).
I will propose a new electricity system, allocating the huge system costs to the sources that cause them. This which will restore market function, and deal with all demands of low carbon electricity production, thus providing both maximum grid stability and lowest electricity cost.
Start your day by praising the Lord just like this amazing bird. The bird is called Canary da Matta. The song is written, composed and sung by Don Moen.

Remember that Jesus warned us that near the end of time, conflicts and wars will increase. Indeed, one sometimes gets bewildered by what is going on and you do not always know how to respond correctly to the chaos around you. Taking a ‘wrong’ side sometimes might alienate us from our family and friends.
So, whose side are you on? I found the answer in the sermon from Louis Kotze held on 22/10/ 2023. The sermon starts at around 57 minutes into the broadcast but you may want to watch the report from our missionary in the Middle East first, which starts at around 47 minutes into the broadcast. If you only have 5 or 6 minutes, try at least to listen to the answer of the question posed on this blog: from ca. 1hr 10 minutes into the broadcast. Love is not a choice. It is a commandment. May God bless you richly.
Heart for Children is asking you to prayerfully consider helping with the project for the orphans in KZN that we have embarked upon. The Rehoboth Children’s Village near Port Shepstone in KZN is an orphanage with 21 homes with surrogate mothers taking care of more than 75 orphans, many of whom have been abandoned by their own kin & close relatives because they also suffer from HIV. The orphanage is battling with the power they get from ESKOM and we want to help them by converting the school and the homes to solar and the introduction of gas stoves. This is a sustainable project as it will lead to direct savings for the orphanage in the expenses for power. In short: We are asking you to help us for the Rehoboth Children’s Village in KZN to become partly or wholly independent of ESKOM power, by converting to solar power. There are a number of projects that have been proposed and it will depend on the income that we can generate in the next few months as to how far we get in the whole orphanage becoming self-sufficient as far as electrical power is concerned. Heart for Children already has a considerable amount available thanks to a special bequest that was made. Should you, or your business, or anyone you know, be interested in helping us, we can send you any of the following documentation, as required:
Should you be willing to help us, we could consider making a trip to the orphanage to assess which specific solar project you want to support, mostly. Please note that this project of Heart for Children is in addition to our regular support. If you want to help us with some extra donations for this project, we ask that in the reference line you write your name + surname + the word “SOLAR”. Every little bit helps! For our donors from overseas we can make an arrangement that they can also donate via our parent organization, Hart voor Kinderen.
Please contact us! Wishing you God’s richest blessings,

PS
I have some great news. After sharing the projects with our parent company in the Netherlands, namely Hart voor Kinderen, and mentioning to them the plight of the whole village of having to sit many times for hours without electricity during load shedding and being unable to cook during this time, they said that they also wanted to help us. But they wanted to make it a challenge. They promised to sponsor our effort to raise the funds for this orphanage Rand for Rand.
This means that your donation will be doubled up by our friends in the Netherlands!
Remember: this is a sustainable project that will continue to save money for the orphanage and make them partly or wholly independent of ESKOM power, depending on our total income. Again: If you want to help, in the reference line, please mention your name and the word ‘SOLAR” so we know how to allocate your donation.
Many thanks for any contribution you can make!!
